About us
We were initially a charitable company that was set up in February of 2002 by a group of local residents who then became the directors and trustees of the project. The original aim was to engage with those young people in the local area who for whatever reason were not accessing mainstream education, and who were committing vehicle crime. Since 2002 the project has grown and is now a successful social enterprise that delivers many different accredited qualifications to young people from all over the City of Plymouth, and even further.
Part of our success is that at the North Prospect Garage Project, we use modern teaching methods to suit the learning needs of our students and build within these courses a feeling of teamwork and a sense of responsibility. Our classrooms are well-equipped and incorporated within a real time working environment, enabling the use of different teaching styles and resources.
We also believe that every student has the ability to learn, as long as they are placed within an appropriate learning environment.
The Garage Project
North Prospect Garage Project now has a long history and tradition as a charitable training provider in Plymouth. Our staff use a variety of teaching methods to make learning fun. We try hard to foster an academic environment in which young people are comfortable so that they can study more effectively.
Our main strengths lie in:
- encouraging independent learning by using a variety of teaching methods
- creating a supportive environment
- academic learning through projects
- holding various events at schools in Plymouth
- cooperating with local secondary schools and other organisations
The project operates an equal opportunities policy
The North Prospect Garage Project is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity.
